$10 ~~$20~~ In stock

Category: Shop

This is a pre-order listing, and will ship in late July. Orders containing pre-order items will not be shipped until late July.

Need allies? Explore your own back yard! Discover unique strategies and make the Woodland wilder by adding hirelings. Best with fewer players, great with more!

Hirelings can be added to games at any player count. With fewer players, the hirelings add new pieces to the map, ramping up the tension and giving you more tactical options. With more players, some hireling cards will flip over to reveal new special abilities to gain, letting you explore unique and powerful strategies.

In the Homeland Hirelings Pack, three new hirelings enter the fray: the River Roamers, Sunny Advocates, and the neutral Prosperous Farmers. Each comes with a double-sided tarot card and new meeples, adding even more variety to your games of Root.

This is an expansion. A copy of Root the board game is required to play.

The pre-order wait until late July felt long, but these hirelings are worth it—digging into your own backyard for allies opens up way more clever strategies than I expected. Can't wait to try them in my next game.

These little hirelings add a whole new layer of strategy to the game, and the idea of exploring your own backyard for allies is such a fun twist. The wait for the late July shipment was a bit long, but the unique unit options are totally worth it.

Finally shipped and it was worth the late July wait. The hirelings pack adds some genuinely clever ally mechanics that make backyard exploration feel fresh, and the unit variety keeps each run interesting. Glad I locked in the pre-order.
